Habanero Cornbread

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • ¾ cup white sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 Tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • cups whole milk
  • 1 Tablespoon Boyajian Habanero Oil
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • honey (optional)
  • softened butter (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350℉.
  2. Lightly oil a 9-x 9- inch baking pan
  3. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, cornmeal, sugar, salt and baking powder.
    2 cups all-purpose flour, ¾ cup white sugar, ½ teaspoon salt, 1 Tablespoon baking powder, 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk and oil.
    2 large eggs, 1½ cups whole milk, 1 Tablespoon Boyajian Habanero Oil
  5. Pour the wet ingredients over the dry ingredients, add melted butter and stir until just mixed.
    ¼ cup melted butter
  6. Bake for approximately 1 hour, until corn bread is browned on top and a toothpick or a thin knife inserted into the top comes out clean.
  7. Cool and serve with butter and honey (optional)

Notes

One way to add some excitement is to top with melted butter or honey. Also try Rosemary or America's Original Garlic Oil for a flavor party in your mouth!
